Audie Murphy Movies

Murphy's first film for Universal was the Western, The Kid from Texas (1950), in which he played Billy the Kid. The movie was popular with the public and he made mostly Westerns for the rest of his career, such as Sierra, Kansas Raiders (as Jesse James) and Gunsmoke (1953). He was lent out to MGM to appear in The Red Badge of Courage (1951), but this was not a success at the box office. Among the directors he worked with at this stage of his career were John Huston, Don Siegel and Budd Boetticher.
