The Adventures of
the Scarlet Pimpernel
1954 -1956
A British television series based on the adventure novel of the same
name by Baroness Emmuska Orczy.
The series, produced by the Towers of London and was created by
writer Michael Hogan; it ran from 1956
for a total of eighteen episodes.
Starring Marius Goring as
Sir Percy Blakeney (aka the Scarlet Pimpernel)
The program began filming in 1954 and was not completed until 1956.
Despite the show being well received,
the show did not run for a second season because the producers and
Hogan thought they had exhausted
all the story lines possible. The series starred Marius Goring as
Sir Percy Blakeney (aka the Scarlet Pimpernel),
along with Stanley Van Beers as Chauvelin, Patrick Troughton as Sir
Andrew Ffoulkes, Anthony Newlands as
Lord Richard Hastings, Alexander Gauge as George, The Prince Regent
and Lucie Mannheim as Countess
La Valliere. Mannheim and Goring were husband and wife at the time
of the series filming.
All eighteen episodes are presented here. The quality is 8 out of
10 and higher for many episodes.
